Background information on Flow Gemstone Essences

About six years ago I discovered the power of vibrational essences. My daughter, then about two years old, refused to go to sleep unless we sat by her bed and held her hand. She was simply terrified to be alone in a dark room. I was advised to give her a couple of drops of Aspen Bach Flower Essence, which I did. Much to my surprise, within two weeks she indicated at a VERY normal bedtime that she wanted to go to sleep. No more fuss, no more fear, just the behaviour you'd expect at that age. Well, that certainly drew my attention, so I took the official courses (level 1 and 2) and another course that was more in-depth, and started working with Flower Essences. After a time I started looking around and found there were so many more essences that just the ones I had, so I added some Healing Herbs Bach Flower Essences and a couple of the BRN Dutch Flower Essences.

Another interest of mine is crystals, they've always fascinated me enormously and over the years I've built up a nice collection. If from time to time I wondered what would happen if I combined the two, there was always something to hold me back and make me put it aside. Looking with 20/20 hindsight, I understand now that I simply lacked the confidence to actually follow through on it :).

Until one night in 2005 when I was visiting a good friend and the subject came up. 'Of course you should try it, silly', she said, and she wiped away every excuse I came up with 'it's probably already been done', and 'I can't do it, I'm not good enough yet'. She basically backed me into a corner where I had to admit that over the years I'd accumulated quite a bit of knowledge on both subjects, and what would be wrong if I were to try it and see what I'd end up with?

So I selected ten of my favourite stones, cleansed them, put them in mineral water and well, waited. I have a one-hand dowsing rod and checked the stones every day to see when I would be given the green light to make the essences. Finally I got the go-ahead to make the first set...

After making them came the process of feeling and listening, of finding a name and most of all finding out just what the essences do. When I had three finished essences, I took them to my friend, who's kind enough to act as my sounding board in making the essences. She's very sensitive to energies and can confirm my findings and add to them when neccessary. The strength of those first three blew us both away, which was a huge encouragement for me to continue working on them.

In the weeks after that I made the other seven essences from the first set, and then the ideas kept coming. I found a couple of very beautiful stones and every time I thought 'well, that's enough for now' I discovered one that was missing, or happened on one I fell in love with and just had to buy.

When making the essences I use my intuition and listen closely to the instructions I get. If the answer is 'no', I leave them be until I do get an affirmative answer. The reason usually becomes clear in time. I also find myself becoming more and more sensitive since I started working with the essences, and this has been speeded along by my Reiki Master initiations in July 2006, and my Tera Mai Seichem intitations in 2007.

One afternoon I had some time on my hands and thought to make one or two essences that had been standing for a couple of days, but when I reached out to pick up one of them, there was this very strong thought of no. What, no? So I picked up my dowsing rod and to my surprise (I expected a yes, because I couldn't think of a reason not to make them), the answer was no. Ah ok, so why not? Moon was the answer that came up. So I checked the moon phase, expecting it to be full moon soon. But it wasn't, so that night I tested again, and was surprised again by the affirmative answer I hadn't been expecting. Apparently these essences wanted to be made by moonlight. Or that day when the answer was tomorrow and that same evening there was a severe thunderstorm. So I guess they wanted to pick up some extra energy. Funny coincidence was that one of the stones in that set was the pietersite, also known als stormstone....

Funny things also happen when finding names for the essences, like with Blue Suede Shoes, when suddenly that Elvis song popped into my head. It fit the theme of the essence so perfectly that I knew I'd found my name for it. It's setting boundaries, standing up for yourself, this far and no further: you can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

Sometimes the name comes so easily that my rationally inclined half starts protesting that it's too easy, but if I try to find more names, I simply can't get past the one I already have. Often I hear a fragment of a song and can't for the life of me come up with the title and artist, so in most cases I just hop on the internet to try and find it, because it will drive me crazy otherwise. Almost always it turns out to be a song I know well.

After I made quite a number of essences, a couple of things happened that made me decide to try what would happen if I made combinations. Protective Bubble was the first and most urgent as far as I was concerned. The theme is protection against negative energy and people making off with your energy.

Apart from that my self confidence has grown quite a bit over the past years, but it still goes fishing sometimes, so I wanted to do something about that as well. Going from there I soon had a couple of major themes: fear, grounding, standing up for yourself, relaxing, grief, depression. My attention also kept being drawn to HSP's. Ok, so I am an HSP myself, but I never really looked beyond the fact that I am. Finding that out was clarifying enough, I did't need to know any more at that point. Now though, I had this urge to read lots about it.

Initially I thought that Protective Bubble was also protection enough for HSP's, but I found that most HSP's have very intense emotions and that there's the challenge to find a balance between your extremes. I tested my essences with that in mind and found that a new combination works better and helps with finding that balance. Strangely enough the urge to read up on the subject disappeared after making Calm the Storm...

And then there's the spray story. I wanted to make a cleansing spray, because my husband dislikes the smell of sage and I was looking for something that was simpler to use. So I made a combination based on Protective Bubble, substituting the chrysocolla with crystal. It turned out to be strong enough to cleanse spaces, but would be too strong for most people to use as an aura cleanser. So it was back to the drawing board to come up with the formula for the aura cleanser and while I was at it another one for people who are easily thrown off balance energetically.

That's all for now, I hope you enjoyed taking a peek behind the scenes here at Flow Remedies. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank my friend Diana for her help, confidence and the kicks in the behind I absolutely need every now and then. Thanks, hun!

By the way, my English is quite good, but as it's my second language there are bound to be some mistakes here and there. If you come across one that's too horrible to ignore, please contact me. I promise I won't bite if you correct me!

Love,

Bianca
